Get Lit! WoodFire Intensive

Some Like it Hot!

This Indigenous People’s Day Weekend, Friday October 10 - Monday October 13, we’ll be returning to our roots with our second off-grid wood-firing intensive.

Schedule

Friday October 10 - optional: come settle into the Wyldes of Walton, where our firing will take place. Drop off your pieces, maybe do some glazing, walk the 5 acres of trails (mucking boots recommended) and enjoy some time off grid in nature with others by the evening fire.

Saturday October 11 - 9am We’ll start glazing and loading the kiln, learn the art of the stack, brick up the door late afternoon, evening kiln warming and drying to prep for the following days firing.

Sunday October 12 - We’ll be starting early that morning with a slow warming of the kiln. Spend the day alternating between stoking opportunities, learning about the different stages of the firing process, and the tools we use to work with the kiln to control (hopefully) the firing cycle or take some time relaxing or enjoying the surrounding area. We anticipate around a 30-36 hr firing, so some lucky participants will get to helm the night shift firing at the kiln. Let us know if you want to be part of that.

Monday October 13 - We’ll continue the firing with the goal of wrapping it up late afternoon possibly into the early evening.

1 cu ft / $350

The Walton Woodfire kiln is a fully off grid firing experience. Camping is available at the kiln site or accommodations may be found nearby.
