THE EXPERIENCE:
Plum Blossom Accessories is a hands-on, artist-led workshop celebrating Lunar New Year through making. Guided by artist Shu Tu, participants create a small collection of modern, wearable accessories using air-dry clay, inspired by plum blossoms, a symbol of resilience and renewal.
PARTICIPANTS WILL:
Create a small collection of wearable plum blossom–inspired accessories
Learn practical techniques for working with air-dry clay, paint, and hardware
Gain insight into an artist’s creative process that can be applied beyond this workshop
Leave with finished pieces to wear and a creative framework they can continue using independently.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Shu Tu is a New York City–based artist whose practice responds to moments rather than materials, honoring quiet moments of everyday life and translating them into thoughtful, tactile forms.
After more than two decades in the advertising and beauty industries, she transitioned fully into her studio practice.
Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions at the New York Public Library and the Dyckman Farmhouse Museum, as well as in group exhibitions including Made in NY at the Schweinfurth Art Center and the 2024 Ceramics Biennial at the Guilford Art Center.
Shu holds a BFA from Parsons School of Design and studied fashion accessories at Cordwainers, London College of Fashion.
